This £142 million redevelopment of the historical Madras College site will be home to our renowned School of International Relations and new University of St Andrews Business School.

Together, the School of International Relations and St Andrews Business School will deliver a curriculum - in a state-of-the-art facility - that will incorporate emerging trends such as empathic leadership, resilience in the workforce and the use of AI in strategy to enable us to equip today’s professionals with the skills they require to respond to tomorrow’s global challenges.

In January 2026, Fife Council approved the University's plan to renovate the former Madras College school building in South Street and construct new buildings on the site. Renovation plans include the full refurbishment of the Category A listed former Madras College building including a glass roof over the quad to preserve the sandstone cloister beneath and provide a large indoor space to be enjoyed by students, staff, and visitors alike. There will also be a significant new building to the rear of the historic frontage. In addition to lecture theatres, meeting rooms, study space, and conference areas, ‘New College’ will also feature community spaces, including a cafe and a Changing Places facility.
