We are looking to raise £3,300 to enable our development squad to join the local volleyball league

Also to support the club with membership prices and upgrade our live stream set up.

Who are we?

The St Andrews volleyball club is home to 4 competitive squads - 2 men's and 2 women's - and the  development squad. We are very proud that our women's first team won gold in Scottish Plate competition and silver in the Scottish Student Sport cup last year. Furthermore, 3 players on the women's first team were selected to join the Scotland squad to play in the Celtic Student Nations Tournament. Part of the reason for success is the development squad that we have which makes up the majority of the club. The development squad is made up of members who play recreationally and players who are looking to develop as players in order to play competitively. In the past, the development squad has nurtured talents to play crucial roles in competitive teams.

Why?

In recent years, the volleyball club has experienced exponential growth, marked by an increase in interest and participation alike. Students with a wide range of abilities join us from different backgrounds. To accommodate increased interest in competitive level, we introduced St Andrews Men’s second team seven years ago, giving more players the opportunity to compete across Scotland.

Then, we introduced the competitive development program three years ago with the aim of bridging the gap between the development and competitive squads, as an increased number of developmental players showed untapped potential and talent. Right now, we have the opportunity for this to be a turning point in the volleyball club; for the competitive development squad to participate in the local volleyball league in Dundee. With this, the volleyball club will have an established and clear-cut path of progression across different levels of play from recreational to competing at the highest levels in Scotland.

Secondly, we also want to improve the streaming and recording equipment used for our games, this allow for a better viewing experience and it will allow our teams to have high quality films that can be used to analyse their performance. Lastly, we want to continue provide high-quality coaching and keep membership prices low.

Where will the money go?

The money raised will go on to support the club with the following items, spending will be prioritised in descending order of the list:

  • £300 League entrance fee
  • £150 Scottish Volleyball Association fees
  • £750 Transportation - to subsidise students who don’t get free bus transport
  • £300 Live streaming equipment cost
  • £1,000 Coaching fee
  • £800 membership prices - to subsidise membership fees for all members
Please note: all payments will be processed at the time of donating. This means that you will be charged immediately upon making your donation. In the event that this project does not reach its specified target, please rest assured that your donation will be directed towards future competitions and helping the club. This approach allows us to maximise the impact of your support and ensures that your contribution continues to make a meaningful difference. If you have any questions or concerns about this update, please don't hesitate to contact us at saintsfunder@st-andrews.ac.uk

We hope to continue to see our club continue to grow and gain more success in Scottish and National level. More importantly, we will strive to create the best environment for player development and make volleyball enjoyable for all.
