My project
In June 2023, I will be travelling to Lusaka, Zambia to support the development of sports, in particular women's football. This project is managed by the 'Wallace Group', which is a grouping of universities in the UK that share the interest of promoting sport in developing countries, and last year, it was recorded that the project impacts around 3000 young Zambian lives. On the run up to arriving in Zambia, I will be learning how to become an effective coach and further developing the skills necessary to succeed in my role as 'Student Sports Development Officer for Women's Football'. In order to make this a reality for me, I am required to fundraise £2000 which will allow me to travel to Lusaka and contribute to the progression of football in Zambia.
Who am I?
My name is Harriet Holden, and I am a first-year management student at the University of St Andrews. I enjoy taking part in sports in general, but I have a real passion for football. Having been a competitive footballer since the age of 9, I am so keen to develop a passion for the sport amongst the children in Zambia through the engaging activities and games that I plan to implement.
I am so excited to travel to Zambia and take part in this programme!
I'm ready to make a difference!
Where will the money go?
My fundraising efforts will cover transport, accommodation and vaccinations!
If I meet my target, any additional funds will go towards the continuation of development of sport in Zambia, whether that be for sports equipment or team clothing!
