Raising money to allow me to travel to Livingstone, Zambia to deliver sport and education programmes

SAINTS SPORT VOLUNTEER LIVINGSTONE

Saints Sport has been running international volunteering programmes in Zambia for over 10 years. To continue Saints commitment and to support the amazing work Sport in Action undertake, a programme in Livingstone was launched.

This will be the third year it is running. We as volunteers, will spend six weeks supporting Sport in Action to provide sustainable sport and education programmes within schools.

To ensure sustainability, there will be a strong emphasis on supporting facility developments, equipment and developing community volunteers' leadership skills.

Who am I?

My name is Sophie and I am a 3rd year student studying Mathematics at the University of St Andrews and I am also part of the University's Netball Committee acting as Vice President. Through this, I have been able to gain coaching experience by taking weekly Recreational Netball and Junior Saints Netball classes. I also help coach during holidays and in-service day camps which host a range of activities for primary school children. In Zambia, I will be taking on the role as Netball Development Officer. I can't wait to share the love I have for my sport!

Where will the money go?

  • Covering the cost of travel, vaccinations, accommodation.
  • If I raise more funds these will support in-country costs and areas of greatest need relating to the programme.
